  • Our Passion

Animal welfare and the well-being of our Critters is the most important part of our work here at Company of Critters.

All animal activities in England involving members of the public and an exchange of money are legally required to be licensed either as a zoo, or animal establishment or hold a relevant Animal Activities Licence and should display details of their licence on their premises and available for potential customers. Company of Critters is proud to hold The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 Licence for keeping or training animals for exhibition. This licence requires an in-depth inspection of the premises, practices and animal welfare, which is reviewed every three years. To hold this licence we are also required to show that we are always trying to better our knowledge of animal wellbeing and keeping.

It is because of this research and care that Company of Critters will not abide bad handling practices such as tarantulas on heads, inappropriately sized snakes around necks or kissing frogs. Handling these exotic animals is to be treated as a privilege, not a right. Each Critter has their own personality and our staff will never force an animal to do something it does not want to do.

All of our animal encounters are made to be enjoyed and cherished, by all ages and capabilities. They are positive interactions in safe environments, aiming to educate and excite!

  • Lovely things our wonderful customers have to say!

"Company of Critters spent a day in the Special Needs Department of a West Sussex Secondary School.
The day was a great success. The students were very comfortable with Katy and the animals she presented.
Katy is extremely calm and softly spoken. She judged each session with many different student need types perfectly.
I would thoroughly recommend Company of Critters as an end of term treat or as a practical element to your curriculum"
    - Sally Cooper
"We booked Company of Critters for a corporate summer event - they were superb! It was something so different and really engaged all the staff. Very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and just really good!
    Thoroughly recommend."
    - Kim Paterson
"Thanks so much for visiting Arthur’s party yesterday - I had as much fun as the kids!
The animals were all clearly very well loved and cared for, Katy was brilliant with the children as well as the animals, and went above and beyond to provide an excellent service. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave some fascinating insights into the incredible animals she brought with her. Thank you again, Katy.
P.s - George the Tegu was my favourite "
    - Amy Phelan
"Today 6th March 2023, we had a visit from Company of Critters. Katy came to the Golden Marigold Club, our Day Centre for the not-so-young. Quite a few of our members had decided they were not interested. However, Katy took a Bearded Dragon, Giant Land Snail, Python and Giant Millipede around introduced them to our members and chatted about them on a personal level…. all of our members took part and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We would certainly have Katy and “Critters” back."
    - Frances Rowland (Golden Marigold Group)
"Our group loved this - very interesting and informative, with beautiful animals!
Katy was awesome at explaining everything.
Thank you so very much - you must come to us again! x"
    - Fay Summers (Young at Heart Group)
